SAVE ON WINTER WELLNESS BUNDLES

Now through December 31st (while supplies last)

I’m sure you have heard the quote, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Think about it. How does it resonate with you?

Take a look at what you are doing right now and ask, is this moving me towards wellness or away from health?

Each-and-every decision we make moves the needle one way or the other…

Did you know that unhealthy behaviors such as smoking, poor eating habits, and lack of exercise are costing the United States billions of dollars in the treatment of preventable diseases?

According to a recent report, obesity is growing faster than any previous public health issue in the United States. Today, 31 percent of Americans are considered obese, and if current trends continue, more than 100 million U.S. adults. Over the same period, obesity could add $344 billion to the nation’s annual healthcare costs and account for more than 21 percent of healthcare spending.

In naturopathic medicine, we affirm that it is better to prevent illness and suffering whenever possible. Through our comprehensive practice, NDs combine all six principles to identify potential areas of imbalance and teach patients how to get well and stay well.

One of the greatest goals of our medicine is prevention. Improving patient’s quality and quantity of life while avoiding the leading PREVENTABLE causes of death, including:

  1. Heart disease
  2. Cancers
  3. Respiratory diseases
  4. Stroke
  5. Alzheimer’s disease
  6. Diabetes
  7. Pneumonia and influenza
  8. Kidney disease
  9. And more!

I have a couple of simple shifts you can make right here and right now to get you going in the right direction!

  1. If you smoke, stop it! This includes vaping! Smoking is responsible for more deaths than HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol, motor vehicle accidents, or exposure to microbial or toxic agents…COMBINED! That means over 480,000 deaths occur annually from smoking. And I know this is easier said than done… I have found acupuncture, herbal remedies, and helping you to balance your pH towards being alkaline can support you in this process.
  2. As the workforce continues to digitize, we are more and more dependent on screen time. This is why exercise is so important! You don’t need to do a 5k to start seeing the benefits of exercise. Get up and go for a walk outside or get in the pool if your joints are in bad shape. Whatever movement you are comfortable with is always a starting point, and being consistent is key! You will be amazed after 30 days of exercise the changes you will begin to see in your body. Honestly, if I don’t exercise regularly my mood gets foul and the pounds pile on. I’m blood type O and I need to move just like a cavewoman chasing down her next meal!
  3. Eating well is the best place to start for anyone looking to improve their health. Start by focusing on fruits and veggies. Instead of focusing on what you can’t have started focusing on the healthy things you can add-in. Last week at dinner I had a watermelon that was just as good as chocolate! You know the saying, you are what you eat and this is true! The food you take in is responsible for fueling cell turnover and division. Give your body the best chance to be strong and vital, while limiting the impact of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, by focusing on whole, organic foods.

These things can seem so basic but trust me the basic stuff must be in place for the foundation of optimal health.
